FAQ | Tempflow Memory Foam Mattress
Does the Tempflow® really sleep cooler than other memory foam or gel-infused memory foam mattresses?
Yes! The patented Airflow Transfer System has been implemented in order to channel your own body’s heat away from you while allowing cooler air to flow through the top layer for a cooling effect. Other mattresses may claim to have ventilation on the surface, but with no airflow channels underneath, there can be no open circulation effect. Other mattresses claim to have airflow underneath the memory foam, but it is a well-known fact that good quality, high-density memory foam does not breath well. Unfortunately, gel infused foam won’t offer more than a temporary coolness that will actually warm up more with exposure to your body heat and it’s longevity is suspect.
Is the Tempflow® similar to the Tempur-Pedic® Mattress?
The Tempflow® mattress uses a technology that makes it feel very similar to the Tempur-Pedic® mattress feel, only with a bit more pressure sensitivity on the top-layer (when compared to Tempur-Pedic’s traditional memory foam), for a quicker responding feel. Of course, we also offer the patented Tempflow® airflow technology to allow your body heat to ventilate out of the mattress, while cooler air can flow through the layers. You can also compare each of our Tempflow® models against each other by clicking on our mattress recommendation chart page.
Can you feel the pincore holes when you lay on the Tempflow?
No. This is because the holes in the top foam layer have a very small diameter and are evenly spaced. The feel of the mattress is smooth, silky, and supportive.
Will My Mattress Hold Up Over Time?
The important points to consider in determining whether a memory foam mattress will hold up over a long period of time are the following:
1.The density of the memory foam:
The Tempflow® uses 5lb. memory foam to allow for optimal mattress support and longevity.
2. The quality of the memory foam:
The Tempflow uses the highest quality, U.S.A. manufactured foam. Some companies say that their mattresses are manufactured in the U.S., but they use cheap foam that comes from overseas places like China. This will dramatically hurt the longevity of a mattress.
3. The effect of Perspiration on any soft surface:
Because the Tempflow patented Airflow Transfer System™ helps keep your body temperature from heating up, less heat and perspiration will occur and it will thereby help prevent the wearing down of the foam cells and/or any fiber structures such as your sheets and mattress padding.
4. The use of a mattress breathable, absorbent mattress pad:
Using a 100% cotton mattress pad will help keep the breathability of the mattress, but still, offer protection to foam layers below over the years.
Will The Tempflow Mattress Hold Up as Well as a Spring Mattress:
Many people are not aware that you are not just sleeping on springs, but rather fiber and foam placed over the springs for a comfortable sleeping surface (even when the mattress is not a pillow top). Memory foam is a much higher density than fiber and conventional bed foams used. Specifically, our testing and 9 years in the mattress business, have shown that our mattresses will stand the test of time. That is why we have placed a ***40-year limited warranty on the Tempflow mattress.
Will I be able to use a water-resistant cover with my Tempflow?
If your water-resistant cover does not breathe well, it will prevent the circulation effect from taking place. There are newer technologies available that may offer some breathability while retaining water resistance, but we have not evaluated any with our mattress at this point in time, so we continue to just recommend a cotton mattress pad for our customers who want to retain the breathable nature of our mattress.
Is Memory Foam Really Non-Toxic?
The memory foam that comes out of the United States is a higher quality product, with restrictions on the types of chemicals that can be used to manufacture it. However, some companies in the U.S. and especially overseas, still use chemicals like TDI. (toluene diisocyanate), an OSHA class 3 carcinogen in their memory foam. Memory foam manufactured with TDI is known to release the carcinogen TDA (toluenediamine) after production due to the outgassing that occurs. Our Biogreen™ memory foam not only avoids using any TDI but our Biogreen proprietary memory foam is produced with a very special process that dampens the volatility and therefore, gives an unprecedented total V.O.C. level rating of only 00.039 parts per million! This means that our Biogreen memory foam tested approximately 13 times lower in total V.O.C.s than the allowable certification requirements for Certipur-US and Oeko-Tex. It was also approximately 13 times lower than GreenGuard’s Indoor Air Quality total V.O.C. certification requirements and approximately 6 times lower than their highest Schools and Children total V.O.C. certification requirements! In addition, our Biogreen memory foam easily passed every GreenGuard School and Children laboratory testing certification criteria from the very prestigious UL laboratories (click here to view the summary results of UL laboratories GreenGuard criteria testing of our Biogreen memory foam). On top of this, our BioGreen memory foam does not use any dangerous chemicals like Boric Acid, Halogen, or PBDE for fire protection, as we use a non-toxic, hypoallergenic, nylon fire socking for this purpose.
*Certipur-US, Oeko-Tex, and GreenGuard are the respective intellectual property of those associations and used to compare how our Biogreen memory foam testing results stacked up against their allowable requirements for certification. Our Biogreen memory foam has been tested by UL laboratories, using their GreenGuard testing criteria. We have not joined the certification programs from these organizations.
